Well today saw a lot of talk on the Vauxhall/Opel/Holden Cascada.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

and now Buick Cascada.

Kinja'd!!!

So what is next for GM to bring across the pond? The GTC, the Astra tourer, Insignia tourer, the Astra hatchback three or five door, the Adam, the Corsa, the Meriva?

The Buick/Opel thing has always bugged me for some reason. There's a little too much Opel in today's Buicks.

Please let it be the Insignia Tourer...

But, it'll probably be the Meriva, because weird quirky crossover thing.

By all accounts Buick has needed to appeal to the younger market as it had become 'an old persons' got of car by bringing Vauxhall/Opel designs across it has already got a full line up to appeal to the younger market without doing much more than getting the vehicles past U.S. safety regulations and requirements.

All the cars so far such as the Regal/Insignia, Verano/Astra sedan, Encore/Mokka, Saturn Vue-Captiva S/Antara have appealed to younger people and people with small families which is the market Europe pretty much aims for in most respects but the U.S. is only tapping into with the like of the Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST and seeing a good return for it's investment.

The Meriva is nice compact MPV/Minivan with a nice optional extra, the flexfix, which is a bike carrier built into the rear bumper (also available of the Astra, Corsa, Mokka).

The bike rail does tilt down so you can still access the rear of the vehicle.

Word is, the next Buick is the Envision - Which I believe is made as a Buick, but will go to Opel as a sort of Antara replacement.

While, again, everything I've read points to this being made as a Buick first, it definitely takes styling cues from Opel - more of a boxy MPV-Euro kinda shape, Insignia-inspired front end and them Antara mirrors.

I'm guessing at some point GM's gonna give up this game juggling imports and new bodies over Chevys and just go ahead and make a single lineup for Opel/Buick. Noting that now we've gone from trying to hide imports under historic nameplates (Insignia/Regal), to not even renaming vehicles (Cascada), and finally having the first Opel to start life as a Buick, if the Envision thing goes down as expected.

It certainly looks better than the Saturn Vue, Chevy Captiva S, Holden Captiva, Vauxhall/Opel Antara, etc...

Do people buy those in Britain? They stay away in droves in Ireland.

Now that I think of it I can't recall ever seeing a Cascada.

I've seen a few Adam's about but not any Cascada's.

I see some of the Renault Megane and Ford Focus cabriolets about the place.

A lass at drives one of these old Megane cabriolets

a guy at work drives one of these, though I think his is a soft blue metallic

The Adam would be a great competitor for the Fiat 500 but I think GM needs to aim towards Fiesta sales first with the Corsa. Maybe slow down the sales of the Fiesta which also may drive up the resale value of the Fiesta before the market gets saturated with them.

Actually thinking about it, the Adam would be best first as the Fiesta market befores saturated, Corsa comes in later on which results in people wanting to be more 'individual' again, GM then hits the market with the Corsa VXR.
